Why Do I Need Motor Bike Insurance

Just like having a car, before riding your motorbike on the highway you need motorbike insurance to cover you in the event that you are involved in an accident.

Similar to car insurance, motorbike insurance is grouped into three categories.

The simplest and cheapest motorbike insurance is known as liability motorbike insurance and this equates to a car’s third party insurance.

This motorbike insurance cover only provides the basic of insurance cover and this motorbike insurance covers you against any damage that you to with regards to property or injury. Any damage to you to your own motorbike is not covered by this motorbike insurance cover.

The next motorbike insurance cover is known as collision. This covers everything contained within the liability motorbike insurance protection but you have the added protection that any damage you do to your motorbike, or yourself, is covered by collision motorbike insurance.

The best, and the most expensive, motorbike insurance cover is, like a car’s insurance, comprehensive.

This includes all the protection given by both liability and collision motorbike insurance but comprehensive motorbike insurance also covers you against theft and fire and any damage done to you and your motorbike if the other road user has no insurance etc.

Although motorbike insurance is relatively expensive you can bring the cost of your own motorbike insurance premium down by adding additional anti-theft devices and even by parking your motorbike in a garage at night. By parking your motorbike in a garage as so there is a reduced chance that your motorbike will be damaged or stolen.

Motorbike insurance is all based on figures, statistics, percentages and risk factors.
So the more you can reduce the risk of you making a claim the more your motorbike insurance premium will be reduced.

Even by reducing your annual mileage, because you are reducing the risks, your motorbike insurance will be less. If you offer to have a higher excess on your motorbike insurance again because this reduces the amount of money the insurance company will have to pay out, their risk is reduced so in return your motorbike insurance premium is reduced as well.
